013 -- [Voice || Action]
[It's been a little over two days since Chouji's had his heart attack. He's woken up since then, and seems to be recovering well. With him out of the immediate danger zone like that, Shikamaru finally felt it was safe enough to leave him for the night and sleep in his own bed back at their apartment instead of in two strewn-together chairs at the clinic.
For some reason, he didn't sleep any more comfortably.
Shikamaru woke early Wednesday morning, deciding to catch up with the rest of his comrades in the building. With Shino as his first stop, he didn't end up getting very far. A trip to the eighth floor revealed an empty apartment surprisingly free of insects, not to mention an unlocked door. Knowing Shino is twice as paranoid as he is about these things...
That's another one I couldn't-
He'll stop by both Naruto and Hinata's apartments to explain Shino's been missing, or leave a note if he can't find them. But conversation will be brief - his head's not in the game today. Once finished there, he finds himself walking back to the clinic of all places, sneaking in and letting himself back into Chouji's room, only to find him sleeping. That's fine. He needs it. Shikamaru just takes up a chair again, planning to wait or stare up at the ceiling for a while.
...instead. He finds his hands coming together, fingertips touching and forming a circle. His old thinking position. He hasn't used it for over a year now. Shikamaru sits like that for some time, head bowed and eyes closed for nearly an hour.]
[Whether or not he finished what he was thinking about, his eyes snap open at some point, hearing a noise out into the hall - glass breaking, and footsteps that don't belong to any of the people who work here. Cautiously, Shikamaru grabs his journal and moves to the door, peeking out from it into the hallway.
Ah. Droid bots. And from the way it's him they focus on, it looks like it's his turn this time.
Perfect timing. He opens his journal.]
Hey. Someone come keep Chouji company for me, huh?
[Giving one last look at the bed behind him to make sure his friend is still asleep, Shikamaru grins and drops his journal to the floor before walking out of the door.
...unbeknown to him, it didn't close all the way and is still recording. The audio is duller, recording a conversation much farther away, but one can still make out what he's saying.]
Oi, do you morons always have to break shit when you kidnap someone? Seems to be a running theme. But you don't need to bother on my account.
I give up.
[From here, the journal has nothing to record but silence.]
