Meeting tonight, at sundown. [What about goes without saying - most of them should know already.] Fourth floor's kitchen. Try not to pull a Kakashi.

[And thus starts off the long to-do-list of Shikamaru's day. The filter goes up in the morning, giving - hopefully - everyone time to see it.

He's decided he needs to talk to Naruto before then. On his way out the building he'll stop by his apartment, or send another filter off to him if he's not around. With everything going on he would be surprised. After he's tracked him down, it's off to the other side of the village to find Tony Stark at his casa, to hand over a project he's been working on for the last several nights. Playing delivery boy again, ugh. No notice this time, though. He's acting like a functional human being again, but he's not up for the sarcastic banter. Once he's done there, it's over to the school to find Katara in the thirty minute window he has after classes let out. Apologies are an order.

Specific things attended to... wow, without Masaomi around this week, he has a lot of time on his hands, huh. Well okay. He goes off to the forest with a bag of coconuts of all things and lines them up at head level when he finds a good spot to sit them for tanto practice - or more precisely: strength training. He's never used his short sword much. The one time he did, he wasn't strong enough with it to do as he intended, so he should work on that now.

And okay, surely by then the sun will be going down... or okay, nope. With a few hours to kill, somehow he winds up at the Seventh Heaven restaurant. In part because he figures it could be a good place to drop off some of the coconuts, and also because he realizes on the way over he hasn't actually eaten yet. Or done much of anything this past week, besides getting Asuma up to speed about Luceti, or working on various projects.

Sooo. Might be nodding off there at the restaurant. Might be napping after he eats, if he doesn't get kicked out for it. SITTING DOWN WAS A TERRIBLE IDEA. Fine, he'll pose a random pointless question to the masses, maybe that'll keep him occupied.]

[Voice]

Wonder why they call this place Luceti. Seems like a dumb name. Does it even mean anything?

[And there is a pirate suddenly leaning against a tree trunk as you practice, watching silently and evaluating the technique used.

And then he makes a quiet observation.]

... you might want to adjust your stance a little. You'll get more power to your swing.

[Oh in that case, he's probably only half-awake when he gets this. Impeccable timing as usual, Kiba. You get a delayed response and a yawn for your efforts.]

Not all the time. I sure don't know what mine means, but I like it all the same. 'Sides, you got a better name in mind?

[Shikamaru is always pretty wary about people watching him train. This week? That awareness of his surroundings is amped up to eleven. He was purposefully botching his moves until he had an idea of who was there.

When it's just Law... well, he doesn't lose his tension, but he does automatically adjust himself to a more suitable form.]

[And he makes a practice slash on open air instead of the coconut: what it really loos like when he's trying.]

[... what's happened?

That's the question going through Law's mind as he watches that swing. The technique is better but the movement is still inhibited somewhat by the tension. There's a stiffness to it that's unmistakable.

A tension that hasn't disappeared.]

... has trouble come, Shikamaru?

[You're unusually jumpy.]

[It takes Naruto a couple of minutes to start making his way to the door of his apartment once he hears Shikamaru's knocking, quite groggy and clearly having just woke up. Once he does get to the door, he swings it open and yawns.]

... Huh? What's up, Shikamaru? [He seriously just woke up.]

[There's a low humming sound on the other end, before he comes up with something he likes.]

Dasai.

Heh... [Now he tries it on the coconut. It's not bad, but the blade does get stuck a little more than halfway through. Still not enough force.]

Stick to one thing, will you? One second you're criticizing my form, the next you're asking troublesome questions...

[He is not jumpy okay, he is just... careful. 8|]

Yo. [He'd apologize for waking you up... but he's not sorry. If it's a bad time, Naruto will just tell him to come back later. 8|] Can we talk?

Talk? [Processing... Processing...] Oh, yeah! Sure, come on in.

[Naruto starts to walk back further into his apartment, and then makes a beeline straight for his room. By "come on in", he clearly meant all the way to his room. Because he wants to be in his bed while they talk. That's how tired he is.]

[Shikamaru doesn't follow right away, thinking maybe Naruto's just going to get something. But then he doesn't come out, so okay then. He will just lean against the door frame.]

You okay?

[A soft sigh.] Guess that's a yes.

[Oh look, it's a ninja in a pirate's restaurant. They must fight to the death.

Oh, but wait! Shikamaru has brought coconuts to appease the pirate demon chef. All is well again.

... No, but seriously--] Coconuts?

[Yes. Most cut open in various states, thought not all of them are split in two. Probably look like someone was trying for that, in some cases.]

Want 'em?

Sure, but-- [He picks up one that's leaking slightly, and his eyebrows shoot up so fast they could leave burn marks.]

Trying to carve 'em up early for Halloween?

[He is already laying in bed, face-up.] I was sleepin'. Let's talk already so I can go back to sleep!

Ah, c'mon, now yer bein' harsh with that kind of language. It can't be that bad here!

[But since you asked.]

You're tense as hell. It's translating into the slash. [And thus affecting the results. He rubs the bridge of his nose.] I don't need to know if you don't want to tell me, but I do see it.

You're not usually this wound up.

Just practicing. They were the toughest thing I could find off the top of my head.

It's gonna be a long talk.

[Translated: Sit up already.]

[He's imagining devil shadows slicing up the poor unsuspecting produce, and whistles to himself.] Alright, I'll take them off your hands.

[And then he pins Shikamaru with a glance] Have you eaten? [Because if the answer is no you can just sit your ass down.]

It's troublesome.

[Acknowledging that, without quite agreeing at the same time. Because the cat is right, he could think of worse scenarios. It's half the reason the place never riled him up when he was new, like it would for most people.

Still a pain in the ass most days. Especially lately. 8|]
