023 -- [Accidental Post]

[Earlier, when looking through his father’s book for the first time in several months, Shikamaru found some pictures he’d never seen before being used as bookmarks. It was… nostalgic, to say the least.

He finds another bookmark to replace them; puts the photos in a drawer to look at later. Because haha, he knows how this works, right? He leaves them out, and somehow his journal accidentally records it. Yeah. Hell no. He’s smarter than that and doesn’t leave his journal anywhere near them. On top of that, he takes it with him when he leaves to assist with a chakra training lesson. Crisis averted!

Guess what he sees when he opens up his journal two hours later.

Where’s the nearest wall. He needs to beat his head softly against it while he attempts to figure out how this happened. Feel free to action it up when he’s back at CH1 too, if you like.]

Right, you wouldn't understand that. I'm part of this reincarnation thing, and one time the spirit of my previous self was showing me his life story. I guess they were some kind of magic spirit memories... I don't really know how it worked. But after I saw his... end... then he showed me myself. Right after I was born. It was weird and passed quickly, but... it was nice.

[Whenever he looked back, he was always fixated with curiosity about the two figures standing nearby. He wished he could have gotten a better look at them.]

...you've had a lot of interesting experiences, man. I'm not unfamiliar with reincarnation, but I've never heard of it working like that.

It is pretty weird. It's kind of like each incarnation is the same person and different at the same time. Every previous Avatar stays in the Spirit World, and I can talk with them when I go there. [He's about to mention the Avatar State, but talking to Shikamaru helps him to remember that's one thing he shouldn't be mentioning on a public channel.] ...Lots of other weird stuff, too. But it's nothing to worry about here, since I'm pretty much closed off from the Spirit World while I'm here.

[He'd ask if Aang's tested that, but lol journals.]

Starting to see something of a system there, the more you describe it. Maybe you can tell me more about it some other time.

I've been out of school for years. Most of us finish by twelve, where I come from.

Twelve? That is pretty young. But I guess my education was pretty different from normal too. Most of my schooling back home was done by the monks. I didn't see what a normal school was like until I spent some time attending one in the Fire Nation. It's closer to the school here in Luceti... just without the Fire Nation-ness.

Must not have been so bad, if you decided to go to the one here.

Yeah, it wasn't really. Most of the other kids were nice, and the assignments weren't that great but I felt like a kid for a change. I guess it was more my classmates than the school itself. I liked how it felt to be one of them and even threw them a secret dance party. A pretty great day.

I guess I can see the appeal of that, when you put it in that perspective.

Yeah! School can be pretty fun.

Not so much that as it's my favorite pastime. I spent more time in school sleeping than following the lesson. Those were the good old days...

Oh, several. Hell, all of my graduating class has been here at one point or another.
