023 -- [Accidental Post]

[Earlier, when looking through his father’s book for the first time in several months, Shikamaru found some pictures he’d never seen before being used as bookmarks. It was… nostalgic, to say the least.

He finds another bookmark to replace them; puts the photos in a drawer to look at later. Because haha, he knows how this works, right? He leaves them out, and somehow his journal accidentally records it. Yeah. Hell no. He’s smarter than that and doesn’t leave his journal anywhere near them. On top of that, he takes it with him when he leaves to assist with a chakra training lesson. Crisis averted!

Guess what he sees when he opens up his journal two hours later.



Where’s the nearest wall. He needs to beat his head softly against it while he attempts to figure out how this happened. Feel free to action it up when he’s back at CH1 too, if you like.]

[That's usually the position he's in with other people, so he keeps it brief.]

It's not precise, like bending is. There's not a lot of control involved at all, really. People are usually limited to doing a few specific things with one element, even if they master it. Like making a tidal wave or breathing fire.

So... more like magic then?

Ehh... for ease of understanding, let's go with that. People are born geared towards one element or another, but theoretically anyone can learn like with magic.

So you're saying that it's something I could learn too, huh?

With a lot of work. You'd have to learn to mold your chakra first.

Well, I think I'm fine with my chakra the way it is. All that stuff about unlocking it and molding it is too spirit-y and stuff for me. I think I'll stick with alchemy.

Won't hurt my feelings. One student is easier to manage anyways.

You're already teaching someone?

Giving it a shot, yeah.

There a lot of alchemy students besides you?

No. I'm the only one that I know of.

Aa. How long you been at it now? I remember you had that book on it a while back, that time at the smithy.

Since about October? [Since that time Ed was a girl, basically.] There's a lot to memorize.

Heh. The learning part is always so tedious, no matter what you do. I can see why you wouldn't want to take up more of it.

Two hours of training at five in the morning and an hour of alchemy research in the afternoon, not to mention all the other stuff I do at the smithy. Pretty sure it's plenty. [And yet he's not half as busy as Katara!]
