Anyways. I'm back. [Technically has been for two days albeit not in town, so he'll make it official.] Anything interesting hap- [His disinterested tone gives way to irritation as he turns his attention to something off-screen.] Oi that's not for you-

[The journal snaps shut with a sigh. He never finishes speaking, but about an hour later the post is transcribed... minus the interruption, and now with complete sentences.

If you're out today now that the heavy rain of the few days is finally letting up, you might spot Shikamaru coming back into the village from the North... closely followed by a deer much larger than Luceti's usual fare ((think five feet at the shoulders, six at the head, and eight feet with antlers)). The stag seems pretty content to follow him around - even into town or just standing around when he sits - despite sticking to the tree-lined paths when he can. Shikamaru talks to him sometimes.

Well yeah. Most deer in our country are still bigger by comparison to Luceti's variety, even if the Nara clan's outclass both.

I know, but that doesn't really explain why the deer from your land here are really big. [ She would say it's science but, this is Luceti, and anything science is actually just a Really Convenient Shift. ]

They're cooler, obviously.

Or maybe they're just better maintained or well fed. [ As if Tenten is going to take that explanation seriously!! They're deer!! Not tortoises, pandas or slugs. ~~What a weird definition of cool you got Tenten~~. ]

[He'd complain, but it was awfully nice for Katsuya to help save his life and all of the villagers that one time, so slugs are cool too. He guesses. 8|]

That's a given. [It helps when you don't constantly hunt your deer.] If you want the honest truth, they're a different breed.

[ Shikamaru can't guess. He has to know! ]

Wait?! A different breed? How many types of deer do they have here? The ones I've seen have been identical to the ones I see in and around Konoha. [ Tenten's experiences: they're the only possible experiences. She hasn't technically seen Madara with her own eyes, therefore, he's not real! ]

Um. No. [Oh Tenten.] Nara deer are half a meter or more taller than the kind you'll see in Luceti. Their fur doesn't get as thick, and only the fawns have any kind of markings.

And, so, there are two different breeds in Luceti, right? The typical Luceti deer, and then the deer you raise? I guess it makes sense that the deer here have thicker fur, it's not as cold in Konoha.. [ She doesn't have anything to comment on the rest of this, though. She figures not to say too much since she's already proved she knows nothing on deer. ]

[He heaves a disgruntled sigh.] I don't raise them...

[That's something his dad does. He just got them to warm up to him. And not be afraid of him. And sometimes if he sees a few hanging around he steers them clear of places he knows Moro is. Or brings deer biscuits and trains with them and- oh shut up.]

Rikumaru is the only deer from the Nara Clan's land to come here, as far as I know. You're right in that assessment about the weather - hopefully he'll adapt by Winter. [He glances at the stag thoughtfully and Rikumaru looks back, communicating something silently.] But not counting him, there's two other breeds in Luceti.

Raise sure has a funny definition these days. [ Tenten could probably list a variety of things she's seen or heard about the Nara and their deer, and she'd find it odd if Shikamaru never had a hand in any of it. Well, she'd expect it because of how lazy he can be, but to outright reject learning clan secrets is unlike him, from what she ~~knows~~ believes. ]

Whoa-!? He's from home!? [ Tenten takes a couple of steps towards it. Part of her is tempted to pet that Konoha fur because WOW she really does miss Konoha but, to avoid looking weird, she restrains. ] I hope he's able to enjoy it here. If you ever need anyone to watch him, I'll be able to! Ever since Shelly [ the turtle she found in her laundry. ] came into my hands, I've been learning more and more about animal care. Small>[ Entrust her to take care of your deer, Shikamaru!!! Especially since she just compared it to a reptile!!! ]

[Tenten did you just compare my deer to a turtle.

Shikamaru?! What's wrong? [ She doesn't see what's wrong with what she said. Instead, she starts to look over her shoulder. ]

But that was by the Malnosso with the weird fortunes. Within twenty four hours, I was in a kangaroo costume, Shikamaru. [ She wasn't in the right mind at that moment, Shikamaru! It's not fault!!! No, really!!! ]
