021 -- [Action]

[Today when Shikamaru woke up to his morning routine of journal stalking, there was a mission notice waiting for him. Fantastic. But you reap what you sow with these things...

Shikamaru spends the next few hours going over everything he thinks he'll need for this mission before heading out of his apartment. Most of his plans for the week are on hold (again) but there's still a few things he wanted to take care of; people to see.

In particular, he'll seek out Ino and Naruto, stopping to talk to most of his friends from home too, if he sees them. Give them a heads up on where he's at for the next week or so. After that he'll head into the square in the mid-afternoon in search of one Albert Silverberg. Masaomi is next, though Shikamaru will actually bother hailing him over the journals if he doesn't see him. Same for Sokka, if he can't find him at the smithy or the Avatar House.

Even if he isn't seeking anyone else out, he'll still stop to speak to people he knows if he runs into them today. Especially if they came along into the tunnels during that last experiment. Curiosity, mainly - he wants to know if anyone's doing better now.

Feel free to catch him anywhere in town this afternoon. Until he finds Albert, he'll be the guy carting around a shogi board under one arm.]

[He can help him with that later, maybe. Go over a few things if Masaomi is okay with it.

For now, though, he just nods.]

...Okay man! [He's not gunna argue here. He adjusts the jacket. So where to bro?]

[He's got a place in mind, though Shikamaru will probably find it more appealing than Masaomi will, maybe.]

There's this hill by the apartment building I live in now. [It was a birthday present, believe it or not.] We could get some snacks and head over there.

Well, okay dude, if you say so.

[He'll be on that if Shikamaru's on it. He's got nothing better to do anyway. To go collect snacks - to the grocery!]

[AND SNACKS WERE ACQUIRED. Shikamaru got a small bag of popcorn; potato chips too. It's tradition, even if Chouji isn't here.

From there it's just a walk back towards CH1, sticking close to the river.]

It's right along this way. Nothing special, but it'd probably make a good fishing spot.

[Shrug. Okay, well, he'll just keep it up like this and keep the chips under his arm. Soda in the other hand. He's not expecting to be super impressed but whatevs man]

[Just fair warning. After another few minutes they're there though.

It's a decent-sized hill, a stone's throw away from the river. The grass is still short, and the trees are spread far enough away from it for a good look at the sky overhead.

Nothing special at all to anyone but Shikamaru, really, and that's fine with him.]

Have a seat.

[Wow, there's grass and not too much snow?? Masaomi blinks, but okay. He'll take a seat]

[Like Shikamaru would lay in snow to watch clouds. He hates the stuff, and actually goes to the effort of clearing it away from the hill when he comes to sit out here.

When the snow starts to get really heavy, it won't be worth bothering with. But for now it's fine. Shikamaru opens up his bag of popcorn and sits.]

[...this is an odd date man. but Masaomi'll just go to eating his chips now, sort of sideeyes-ing Shikamaru because]

[Shikamaru's keeping his attention fixed on the clouds, but he starts talking again after a moment.]

So what's going on with you?

I'm going on a mission soon?

[He said, obviously]

[Pfft. Shooting him a look as if to say 'I knew that'.]

C'mon, that's it? You've probably only known about that for what, a day? What else besides that.

[He flicks a piece of popcorn up into the air with his thumb, catching it in his mouth.]

Liiike... anything cool? Boring? An angry mob of women after your head, maybe?

[generalflirt]

Hey dude, you know I'm smoother than that. And then some.

[He tuts his finger in the direction of Shikamaru now, sitting up himself]

'And then some', huh? [THIS COULD BE DOUBT.]

[Shaking his head.]

All right, I guess I'll take your word for it. Sounds less than exciting, though.

[He chortles at this] Dude, I'd much rather have some more love filled excitement than a mob.

I think they're on about even footing, really.

Yeah, yeah, you hate girls, we know man. It gets old.

[A snort. He doesn't hate them! They're just so troublesome sometimes.]

Oi, oi, I don't complain about you flirting with all of them.

Oh, so I can date Ino-chan?

[Without missing a beat]

[He holds his arms wide to hold the dramatic point, and then puts them both on his chest to swoon while sitting]
