Hi. [The journal feed starts unceremoniously.] Noticed the village is getting back into the swing of things. Either that or those who are sulking are doing so more quietly. Good luck with that, whichever.

But hey. I'm looking for a lighter that I misplaced. Anyone comes across it, lemme know. Thanks.

[Through the afternoon and evening, Shikamaru can be found in various places around the village: digging through things in shops, searching through grass and shrubs and so on. He hasn't been around the village much in the last two days, busy elsewhere with his deer.

Now it almost seems like he's making up for it. One minute you might walk past him digging through the trash behind a building, only to go in to find he's inside already (probably asking if the place has a lost and found). Someone's busy.]

[Hey scrolls are useful. Especially for moving furniture. He's been using his more often. So he nods, looking thankful for the help.]

[This time, Murkrow doesn't even bother to look at it or toss it down. He just kicks some half broken geode with nothing particularly outstanding at Silver, who almost gets a face full of rock I mean come on seriously Murkrow--

Tooo the next tree. Come on, Shikamaru, you've been looking through everything under the sun for this thing. At least look a little less dejected.]

[Other than the fact that he's learning the birds in this forest must be more like pack rats... not so much. Because he still hasn't found it.

It was Asuma's. It was one of the few things he has left of his sensei - gone twice now - and he threw it away. Like it had no meaning.]

[She nods.]

What makes you think it's in the garbage?

It doesn't look that bad... but it's nice of you to clean up.

Nothing. [She can't see the smile, but there's an odd tone in his voice.] But I'm running out of places to look.

I'd rather not have the owner pissed at me.

Does this place even have an owner? ...Is it that Rogue girl who's at the front a lot?

Yeah, I think so.

[That's who he's referring to, at any rate. He hopes off the counter.]

Hey, lemme help.

[He waves his arms around to collect the smoky air into a ball, then he shoves it out the window.]

Aa, sweet. Thanks.

[He grins at that. Genuinely, even.]

[And he grins back.]

No problem. It's one great thing about being an airbender.

[Oh crap, there's someone there. Did someone see her tun Shikamaru into smoke? ~~There can be no witnesses...~~ Better go and explain herself. Pascal runs over to the door and pops her head out from underneath all the smoke.]

Hey, Shikamaru, this isn't what it looks like! [...] Hey, you're back! Yay!

I should probably be disturbed you've had to use it enough times to qualify.

[But rather than be so, he picks up some boxes and moves them back to their proper places. Or close enough.]

[Oh so that's who it was. ...somehow this explains almost everything. He waves some more smoke out of the way, frowning down at her.]

Yeah. Back. What happened here?

It's no big deal. Does it look clean enough now?

Yeah. It should be fine soon enough.

Well y'see, I saw you over there looking through some stuff so I went to say hello. Then you kinda went up in smoke and then all this happened! And here we are.

[That explanation covered everything. Yup. Just going to actually come out from the smoked-out shop now and get some fresh air.]

Phew! That was pretty cool.

Great! So... How've you been, Shikamaru?

'bout the same. [Just more agitated.] You?

[Not feeling the small talk today, but the least he could do is be polite. Aside from the experiment, it's been a while since they talked.]

[The third time, A rather large Owl rests in a hole in a tree. Murkrow gives the owl a funny look for a minute before slamming the tree with his head, shaking the entire thing and sending the owl out in an angry rage. He grabs something from her nest in his beak before engaging the other bird in a fight- remembering to have some semblance of self control so he doesn't kill her because seriously he's not here to smash things, just find shiny things- until the owl has given up and goes back to her nest.

From there, he struts over to Shikamaru and Silver. This time... This time he indeed holds a lighter in his beak.]

[So cool. He can't see three feet in there.]

Not that much smoke! [He should probably open up some more windows in there, and be grateful there isn't smoke detectors.]

Oh jeez... that owner is going to be pissed...

[THIS WAS NOT HIS FAULT.]

[If anyone were to pass by, these scenes would probably look hilarious. Bird battle, and no fucks were given.

This time though does stir some legit reaction out of Shikamaru. What Murkrow's holding is the right size, but is it his lighter??]

[That's for him to judge. Murkrow's more careful with it, landing on the ground and letting it drop into his wing so he doesn't damage it.

It gives Shikamaru more than enough room to examine it.]

[Shikamaru does so, and... actually it looks like one of those disposable kind, nicely painted. He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly and shakes his head with a short laugh.]

Ha. Didn't think there'd be a collection out here.
