[It's been a long time since Shikamaru's failed a mission. All right. Failure might be too strong a word for this one. He can actually laugh at that. This isn't like when he was twelve. It's a personal embarrassment, not something that's going to keep him up at night, sick to his stomach.

A failure is a failure though, and that makes it a pain in the ass. He'd apologized to the MSF personnel profusely, and requested to be put on a different mission to make up for the screw-up. They'd looked nonplussed about the whole thing and stuck him back in Luceti, but eh. Shikamaru decides to keep his journal close to him anyways, in case they take him up on that. It's for this reason he doesn't go out to do any of the things he probably should. He passes the time by flipping through the journal instead, and thinking over the last mission.]

When I first came to this village, I remember going out. Left or right, it seemed anywhere I looked someone was using that so-called "filial magic". ...Haaa. [He scratches his head, and there's a smirk in his voice.] That's an exaggeration, but you get it. That was years ago, though. It seemed like it was becoming less common until that incident last year, when everyone got possessed.

Anyone learning anything from those guys now? Seems like the kind of thing that would spark interest, especially with one extra spirit hanging around.

Ah! No not-not at all. I-I mean it was technically a group fault, ours and the spirits. I mean it's not just Twila's fault, it's not very fair to-to blame a being for being the way it is. But it's also not the other spirits fault for wanting to keep Twila at bay. I can see why they would want to. I just wish that...

[ wished there was another way that it could have occurred. It was entirely out of his power to do anything about though. He sighs instead of finishing his sentence. ] Still after all that...I don't blame them for what happened. Perhaps I-I'm too soft though.

[Okay, he kind of has to grin. He doesn't respond right away, turning that over, but when he does the flatness is gone from his voice.]

Nah. At least, I don't see anything wrong in coming to an understanding.

I just wish it was easier said than done.

[ Helios has to sigh a little bit at that. It was hard trying to play peacemaker with humans and mythologies back in his world but spirits too? He did try his hardest though to at least, so there was that. ]</small?

Mm. Fortunately, things are settled for the time being. Unless there's been problems I'm not aware of - I haven't been, uh. Around for the past couple months, so it's possible.

I don't think anything has happened in awhile, no. It does make it all a bit more...suspicious though don't you think? [ It's strange to say but the fact nothing has happened for a few months has him on edge a little. Calm before the storm as the saying goes. Helios will just sigh though, letting out some tension for his own sake. ]

Have you talked to them? The spirits I mean?

Suspicious? Only if it's the Malnosso. [He picks one question a time.] I've talked to all of the spirits but one, at some point or another. They're a weirder bunch on their own, but they don't care much for problems outside their circle.

Which one, if-if you don't mind my asking that is. I-I haven't really spoken to, um, Twila since the whole possession event. [ Having been possessed by said spirit left him a bit unnerved. But that might be because he was possessed by the Egyptian god of destruction currently residing in his soul the year before. ]

I-I'm not sure if I should either...I mean it's not very fair to seclude it either. It must be...rather lonely after all.

It's not Twila, if that's what you were asking. Seems like we followed the same line of thought... [So this guy was probably possessed by Twila, same as him, he reckons. To gather that.] I felt it might feel that way, so I promised to seek it out.

Ah so you're...going to look for it as well? [ And here he'll pause. ]

Would you mind if I accompanied you, if and when you go? I-I'm just not terribly sure what might happen if I go to seek Twila out by myself. Having someone with-with some knowledge of it would put me a bit more at ease.

Sure. [He makes no mention that he seeks it out regularly - he has since the end of that whole affair, actually. He wonders how many others have.] We could go tomorrow morning, if you'd like.

Ah that would be perfect for me. [ Helios would seek Twila out, but he's not sure exactly what it may do to him or to the god of chaos and darkness trapped inside him. It's probably best if he didn't go at all, but this would settle a large uncertainty he's had this entire time. ]

Th-thank you for, um, allowing me to come. I-I know it's rather impromptu of me, especially since we haven't really talked ever. I do appreciate it though, and if I can do anything in return feel free to ask.

[Oh, but they talked once before hadn't they? Then again, that was a long time back. Before the village flooded... eh, not worth commenting over, given that. He shrugs.]

Don't worry about it. It's not a big deal to me. Where do you want to meet?

Oh! Ah. Where ever is easiest. H-How about the town square, near the bakery maybe? Is there any specific spot you contact Twila in?

Not really. You can find it near anywhere, though if you want some privacy, we can head out to the trees behind the playground after we meet, or something.

Ah alright. That sounds fine with me. Tomorrow, yes? [ Helios will have to bring something as a thanks. ]

And th-thank you again for-for allowing me to come with you.

Yeah, yeah. That's fine.

[He doesn't acknowledge the gratitude a second time. Once seemed good enough, and he wasn't sure it was worth the thanks then either.

But he will be there. Fast forward to the next day?]

[ Forward to the next day! It'll be after school that Helios will make his way to the playground. It was eerie when you walked through it without anyone using it. Mush like the school when it was empty. Far too quiet and far too desolate. But Helios wasn't going to let that continue the mood throughout this whole endeavor. He was nervous, for a myriad of reasons.

One being that he wasn't sure what Twila would do if he managed to contact her. And two he's not sure what it would do to Apep within him. He'll let out a deep breath as he waited for Shikamaru to show up. He might be pacing a little as thoughts continued to flood through his head. ]

[Shikamaru appears much out of nowhere, crouched above in the branches of a tree close to the playground field. Not yet in the forest.]

Yo. [He calls down to the man below.] Helios... wasn't it?

[ Helios might jump at that random voice out of nowhere. He's just a bit on edge about this whole thing, don't mind him. He will just give Shikamaru a sheepish smile and wave back at the other after he gets his bearings. ]

Oh! Um, yes, that would be me. I assume you're Shikamaru, correct?

Mm. [Shikamaru lets himself fall off the end of the branch, landing in a controlled crouch on the ground before straightening up. Within sight and such, so there are no worries.] Got it in one. Nice to meet you again.

I-I couldn't think of anyone else who-who would be waiting behind the school. You know how it is. [ Most of the students here head for the hills when school is out. ]

Shall we, um, head in then? Or-or you can lead the way if you're more comfortable with that. I'll just follow.

Whatever you like. [He shrugs.] It won't take Twila long to find us, in either case.

Ah. Alright. [ Helios sounds so unsure about this but he will start them off in the general direction to the more thicker, darker, parts of the forest. ] You know I've never actually walked very deep into these woods. I wonder if there's any signs of the people who used to live here out here. Like the ruins that are in the desert.

[ He wonders if anything else like that exists in the enclosure. ]

Mm. That's all underwater now. I think Law's seen it with his sub. Anything else I've seen from before our cycle's underground.
