[The voice that addresses the journal is crisp, albeit a little tired sounding. To those who know him, however, Shikamaru might actually sound like he's in surprisingly good spirits.]

I don't know how many of you have chosen to explore the world out there; think I might've missed a few who left already. If there's anyone in the village thinking about it, I encourage you to go. You'll have to watch out for Natural Shifts, but it's a great opportunity, and if you can help Romaeus while you're at it, that'd be ideal.

To anyone who'll be staying, however, I got a favor to ask. When we left our current time, I brought along some non-perishables that can be added to the food supplies available from hunting and the harvests. I'd like to gather some reliable volunteers to ration it between the village and those leaving to explore. Either hit me up on the journals, or come find me at House 12 if you're interested.

[Sorry to Masaomi and Hilda if anyone takes him up on that while you're around, the house is just easy okay. For him.]

[Normally he'd ask who's there, but a couple of people will be coming by today anyways so why bother. Shikamaru's already at work on the living room, removing supplies from scrolls. So, uh. Once Silver steps in he can expect to find numerous stacks of boxes and canned food piled along the walls, among other things.]

[...This is a lot of food.

Where the hell did Shikamaru get all of this food?]

How long have you been saving all of this?

[Oh cool, it's Silver. Blindly, he reaches out with one hand to search for something, his eyes fixed on a pen and pad in his lap filled with tally marks.]

Two years...? Maybe longer than that now. Ever since we had that food shortage when the Kin'corans came. I didn't want to be caught in that kind of situation again. [Aha, at last his hand finds what he was searching for: a list, which he holds overhead for Silver to take.] Tell me what foods you'll eat and how long you plan to go out for, and I'll ration you out some.

[Shikamaru why have you been saving up food for two-

...You know what, forget it. He's been saving up food for two years for something like this.

And because of the Kin'corans.

Silver looks over the list carefully...]

How about some rice and ramen?

[They can find some fresh things on their own, but some staples would be nice... Not to mention that those are the only things Silver can kind of cook...]

...And a little peanut butter for Feraligatr, if that's okay. I don't know how long we're staying out.

[Not so much because of the Kin'corans. More like that food shortage that had the unfortunate timing of happening then too.]

We can do that. [He looks over his shoulder. Yeah that should be more than fine - it's considerably less than what most people would ask for, which he appreciates. Pushing himself to his feet, he grabs a small jar of peanut butter. There's a start.] I'll give you a week's worth of each.

[Good. That's plenty.

Wait.] I'm gonna need some for Weavile too. [He should probably clarify that.]

[Oh, yeah that seems reasonable. Shikamaru looks back over to Silver, as he starts divvying up the rice. There's some ziploc bags here, which he puts it in.]

How much does he eat? Compared to you.

He eats more than me. [Weavile seems very proud of this fact and puffs out his chest.] But we can make food last if we need to.

[So. You know. As much as Shikamaru can spare.]

[He nods, recalculating things to themselves. Truth be told, he didn't figure pets/animal partners into his totals, when he was considering how much he'd need to get. At least not more than a guess. There's no telling how many people in Luceti own one, and which ones need to be fed or are capable of hunting for themselves.

Luckily, he doesn't think many people brought their animal companions to the past along with them, other than the trainers. So that extra he packed should be enough to cover them, if everything goes well.]

I'll give him a little more proportion-wise than I did you, in that case. What kind of food does he eat?

He'll eat what I eat.

[Excuse you Silver- Weavile reaches up and points at something on the list that he'd like to snack on thank you very much-]

And a little bit of apple sauce?

[Apple sauce is absolutely delicious and he can have one, right, maybe--]

Please add sunflower seeds, and double the amounts currently given as well.

[Yes, hello, Hilda is peeking in watching. The princess grips the bag she'd taken along with her to the past as she strolls into the living room, scepter in her other hand as she slides in beside Silver.]

I want to go too.

[Going back for extra rice then- and okay, some applesauce too, sure- Hilda, that's tripling. Upon her entrance he stops to shoot them both an exasperated look.]

You want to go exploring with me?

[Sorry Shikamaru, your exasperation is lost in a sea of confusion. If anything, he expected Hilda to want to go with Crys, or with a large group of people- why him?]

If it isn't too much trouble, Shikamaru? Thank you, and I'm sorry for making you do more work. I will make it up to you somehow when we return.

[And to now answer Silver, hoping her nervousness isn't evident.]

... And I do wish to. Please allow me to accompany you, Silver. I wish to see the state of this world for myself.

[SIGH OF THE LONG-SUFFERING, but he's already getting the right proportions divvied up. He waves a hand back at Hilda, some sincerity leaking into his grumbling.]
