[Forward-dated to early Tuesday morning - Unfortunately for you, Luceti, the paperweight Shikamaru usually keeps on his journal seems to have been knocked off during the night. If he knew, he might apologize for the BLARING alarm clock as it goes off at six in the morning.

But he doesn’t, so instead you get complaining.]

Nn… again? Forgot I set the thing… [BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. And a sigh. He could get up and get it. It’s annoying enough that he considers! But… it’s also a whole five feet away. Is that much effort worth it this early in the morning?]

How troublesome. [APPARENTLY NOT. He opts to instead bury his head under his pillow and go back to sleep.

But fear not. Lazy geniuses may not be so genius when they have to wake up early in the morning, but a certain

dangerouswind of his is troublesome no matter what time it is. That ringing will probably last no more than a minute or two before getting cut off loudly. And violently.]

She'll probably suspect something if she sees him come out of there with clothes that aren't his size. [What he wouldn't give to be f- pleasantly plump right about now.]

...I hate to ask, but could you pick up a shirt or a jacket or something? If she asks, you can just say it's for your brother.

[Katara is not going to lie to Temari, if she sees her she'll tell her exactly what they're for and give her a lecture on hypothermia. Because that is how she rolls. However, she brushes this over.]

I'll just bring you some of Sokka's stuff for now, he's got whole drawers of things that he doesn't use.

[Free shopping and Sokka - even if he doesn't wear it, it's a dangerous combination. Plus, he was friends with Paru.] I'll be there in about twenty minutes.

[He checks the filter on this, making sure it's still in place. He's not so sure how well Temari can hack yet, but he's not taking chances.]

[You know what? You're odd. You're very, very odd. But the last time she checked, you did actually seem to give a damn about Shikamaru so rather than ask for the laundry list of his faults, Katara's going the more direct route.]

And that's worth chasing him out of the apartment in his pajamas? In the winter? Do you know how dangerous that is?

[After your no doubt lovely conversation with Temari, you'll find Shikamaru sitting at one of the back tables in the restaurant, trying to hide the face that he's in nothing but a worn shirt and shorts by keeping his legs folded up on a chair and looking at the menu.]

[Lovely indeed. Katara approaches and lays the bag down on the table in front of him.]

Jumped out a window, huh?

[He lowers the menu just slightly, enough for a casual glance about the restaurant.]

You would too, if you were in my position. [Beat.] Okay, probably not. But my reasons were good enough.

Care to enlighten me?

[Considering I trekked out this whole way and all?]

Not really. [Back to the menu, though he's not actually reading it.]

[Tapping at the table. Because yeah. He knows you at least deserve an answer for going to the trouble. He sighs.]

Just let me change into some real clothes first, huh?

[She crosses her arms. Temari's right - you are an idiot.

She did all this for you on Valentine's Day, bud. She left Sanji's lemon tarts for you.]

NINJA VANISH. Bet you didn't think he could move so fast when he wasn't in a spar, huh?

He'll be back a few minutes later, frowning at the jeans, but not complaining. They're weird, but they're not uncomfortable, and they're much better than shorts. Now he just needs Chouji to show up with shoes.]

[The journals have been busy lately, so he's sure there were other things to do.]

[Katara meanwhile, has taken a seat. And glances over him critically. Oh well, it was the best she could do.]

It's all right. I couldn't let you freeze out here. But there is a lot going on today.

[So spill, 'cause she has a message to deliver and - actually something serious to talk to you about too, but she may put that off for another day. 'cause school is not waiting for her and she hates missing it.]

Mm. [He gets the hint, there.] Trust me, I appreciate it. Probably not much to say about it, though. If you know how it ended you obviously ran into Temari, and I doubt that's all she said.

[And the fact that that needed to be a part of the message isn't weird to anyone else at this table, is it.]

She also said you jumped out of the window rather than talk to her.
