004 -- [Voice || Action] Dated to some point after the tent first appears

[He got a peek at the tent long enough to look at the crowd slowly growing inside of it. It was home from there; his room, where he could peel off that costume. The more he thinks about the tent, the less comfortable he is with it; with the thought of people being herded inside of it when they're desperate for the relief it provides. Maybe it's nothing, but he'd prefer to err on the side of caution.]

If you put a glass of water ten feet in front of a guy dying of thirst, you know he won't walk away from it. That tent's like that. Convenient, right?

Makes it pretty convenient to have everybody all in one place too. [Right where they want you - a circle drawn into the ground (and the ceremony's about to begin)

He closes the journal shut and tosses it without much force across the room. He'll open it again when the funeral bells go away.]

[ Quirking a passable half-smile as he sets the towel in the sink. ]

Hard to miss it. [ He wouldn't be surprised to hear about anyone doing so, though. ]

[He pops something in his neck.] There's something weird about it. More than what's obvious.

Everything stops in there. These illusions have been getting to everyone, so of course they flock to it.

Let's say the Malnosso or their scientists are trying to fix this mess and this is their best idea for it. Why make it look like a party?

Of course. [ That's how people will act. ]

Hard to tell with these guys. [ He could toss out something like "because it shows us they probably could have stopped this anytime," but there are plenty of people who would think that anyway.

Why feed Shikamaru's pessimistic streak? ]

[He nods - there's several reasons why they might.]

It's a waste, either way. If the tent was supposed to function as a means to ward off the hallucinations, it wouldn't need dressing up. [And why not find other smaller locations? There's too many tangents he can go off of, brain working on over-drive -and he's going to slip up again- No. No, he isn't.] ...A party is a good way to get people to relax and lower their guard. And if you wanted everyone to go, why not offer something to the people less effected by this?

You think they're up to something? [ Don't mind him letting you think out loud. Shikamaru has a thing for that. ]

It's perfect timing for it, if they are. While most residents are desperate enough to go. Net as big of a catch as they can get before springing the trap.

[He goes quiet again for a bit.] This place is making me paranoid. So damn troublesome.

Sounds about right. [ Like fish in a barrel. Must be a bad guy thing. ...he kind of hopes not as many people go for it as they want, then.

And, just shy of amused: ] You're just over-thinking things. Everyone is lately.

[At least there's someone he doesn't have to worry about going there.

There's a sigh, then a look in Chouji's direction.] Everyone, huh?

[ Smiiiile? He can practically manage smiles 24/7. No big deal, see. ]

I'd be surprised if someone wasn't.

Hn. [His eyes flit over to the contents of the trash, then to the towel Chouji used to clean the floor.

And thus he forms Plan A.]

That's the idea. [ He'll even get out another cup and everything. ]
