Appointment's Post II

This post is for threading with Shikamaru anytime and anywhere. It can be used for action tags or the ping feature on journals (voice or written) to get in contact with him for personal conversations. Hehe, you can just help me out next time I've gotta do something for Tenten.

just make sure you have fun tonight though, yeah? Things have been real hectic for everyone lately, haven't they.

[He sobers a little, stuffing his hands in his pockets, though still a smile remains on his face.]

Yeah. It's been tough... [But he will. For this, he definitely will.] Have things been all right, for your family?

It's been.. alright. It's been hard for Tenten, what with the strike and getting her things for work, but we've managed.

[Even Naruto's mood dampens as they discuss it. Things have been hard for everyone.]

Had to get the family to help out a little. I hate asking them, and I'll have to figure a way to pay 'em back but you know..

[He wants to provide for his family properly.]

[He knows how that is, to extent, and nods. Wanting to provide for your family, at least. He has too much pride to ask his father for help.]

Is it just money?

Mostly. There's also the other stuff though, y'know. Some people around where we live still don't like Tenten, dunno why it has to be such a big deal.

[His family is doing fairly well for itself as a whole and there are those who would say he married down for bringing in some low class seamstress. none of it matters to him, though.]

[Ha...ha... As someone's who's making the transition from middle class down to working class, all Shikamaru can do in response to that is wave a hand. It's an annoyed, swishy motion, and he snorts while doing it.]

People in this town have nothing between the ears, if you know what I mean.

[It... takes just a second but YES. YES HE DOES KNOW.]

Everything else is alright though yeah? I mean with you guys.

[Unlike with his father, Naruto's one of the few people he won't lie straight to. Still, the things going on in his life aren't something he likes to talk about a lot. Gotta try for a subject change first, right? Or keeping them on the original topic, in this case.]

Hey, we were talking about you, weren't we? You know, I don't have a lot of spare time anymore, but if you ever need a handyman you can save money by calling me. I'm getting better at that stuff, and I'd like to help you guys out where I can.

Yeah, but I ain't really got much else to say. Things are mostly the same as always, y'know?

[But the diversion from his questions works, surprise surprise.]

...Actually you know, you can come help me one day if you want. Tenten says I've got to fix a hole in the fence. [Home DIY isn't exactly his forte...]

How big of a hole is it?

Like-- [Using his hands. Enough for a medium dog to crawl through.] This big.

Okay, well maybe I was out in the yard just foolin' around with Ikki y'know? And maybe I kicked it one too many times when we were playing ninjas.
