[endgames]

This post is for threading with Shikamaru anytime and anywhere. It can be used for action tags or the ping feature on journals (voice or written) to get in contact with him for personal conversations. This will be used primarily for anything that you don't feel like would take place in a regular log or post.

[--wow that's way better than working for free. Shikamaru pauses, because damn Silver, you look so excited about this.]

[...Whoops. Silver's excitement dies down pretty quickly upon seeing Shikamaru's reaction. Did he say something wrong?]

[Shikamaru blinks, then waves a hand.] It's alright.

[HE'S JUST NOT USED TO IT, it's been a long time since he's seen Silver emote...]

[...The Silver he knows has Moro's demon curse. When he had that curse, if only for a week, it fed so easily off of his negative emotions and spread so quickly...

...Does he know a Silver with some strange death penalty? That sounds most likely...

He wants to know more about this strange little Shikamaru's memories, but it's probably not the right time or place. Well, what can he assume for himself? The Vaskoth draft was nearly two years ago, so he... thinks he's been this age for two years?....]

...How's it taste?

[Silver would probably feel much worse for it than he would, let's be real here. If anything he's expecting to be the one to have to do the reassuring, the way older people act. Which would be difficult, so he's glad they've dodged that.]

I've had better. [Bluntly honest, such is nine-year-old swag. But he takes another appreciate bite, trying not to look too happy about it.] ...but it's not bad.

[feistytrader]

Guess I gotta keep practicing. [Not bad isn't good enough for ice cream. ...Is it?

Not once does the fact that Shikamaru might be trying to be cool occur to him.]

[Wow wow that's because he's not trying, Silver, he is naturally awesome. Clearly.]

Is it hard making pizza?

[Shikamaru is absolutely cool. True facts.]

It's not too hard to make one, but it's hard to make it good. [But it is worth the trials and efforts to make it good. He can practically taste that ice cream already.] It can't just be okay. It has to be something that people would actually want.

I'm not very good at cooking, so that doesn't really help.

Why do you make it then?

[He could make pizza. Maybe. If it pays in ice cream he could, anyways. ...though if he got married his future wife might not like ice cream, so maybe she wouldn't be happy with that.

He could make sure to marry a wife that definitely likes ice cream? Oh but then maybe he would get tired of it, hrm.]

For the ice cream. My version of you swindled me into it.

[He blinks, and then his eyes round with understanding.]

You work for me?

[THAT SOUNDS KINDA COOL. He's heard stories about him being big before, but not many. No one in Luceti knew him from when he was older other than his friends from home and Katara, though with her for only a little while. So this is something new.]

Does the grown up me work at that store?

[feistytrader]

He's the one who runs it. [Him or Masaomi. Or both. Probably both. Now that he puts it like that, it makes a lot more sense that a convenience store apparently didn't exist to him.

...Wait.] How do you know about grown up you, anyway? [Did someone else already tell him about it?]

[After he had left Silver earlier, Shikamaru had in fact realized his grave error in showing any familiarity in the first place.

It's too late to cover it up now he already knows, but faced with actually having to explain things he makes a show of looking put out. He puts his pizza down with an exaggerated sigh, wiping his hand off on his pants.]

How troublesome. [Here he bows his head, palming his face in a gesture more reminiscent to something you'd see from an adult.] I thought I could keep it secret a little longer, you know? It's no fun this way...

[feistytrader]

You're right. Now that I know your secret, I'm gonna share it with the whole village.

[...No really Shikamaru he has no idea what you're talking about, what's going on-]

[Pfft.] Yeah right. You might talk more than the Silver I'm used to, but so do the birds and the fish, and about every other animal in this village.

[It's the principle of the thing. He lost the game, man. ):]

[Because wow this is such an issue. Only not because even he gets Luceti does stuff like this all the time. He just wanted to milk it for his own benefit. Shikamaru picks a sausage off of his pizza and pops it in his mouth, chewing around his words.]

Chouji told me. And Katara and Ino, and everyone else.

[Shikamaru blinks and looks around the room, observing things more carefully now. How weird. So that one experiment is going on here too...]

[...Why's he looking around like that? What happened?]

Then let me ask a different question. [Chouji's his best friend, right? And Ino's someone important to him, and Katara...] How long have you been small?

[The answer shouldn't be longer than a day or two, but... That Chouji guy isn't even here anymore. Is he?]

[middlegames]

Hmm... [Thinks. Doesn't take very long to do the math.] Almost four years?

[Just. As if this is a casual thing to say.]

[Oh yeah four years that's no big de-]

Four years? [Four years? How?]

[middlegames]

Yeah. [It's okay, Silver, he's had to have this conversation like ten times when everyone from Konoha showed up older than him.]

See, what Chouji told me is when I first came to Luceti I was the same age as him. But then a couple months after that there was this experiment where a buncha stuff was going on? I turned into a kid during it, but when the experiment was over I didn't go back to normal.

...But when that happens, things usually go back to normal in a few days. A few weeks tops. [Not... In four years. More than four years, given that he's still stuck as a kid...]
